The brief

Mars Petcare UK, tasked us with organising their annual conference in Manchester. The event aimed to connect 182 attendees, deliver key strategic messages for 2025, and celebrate team achievements. Sustainability was a key focus, with the client eager to measure the event’s carbon footprint for the first time, setting a baseline for future events.

Our approach

We designed the conference to be engaging, memorable, and sustainable, ensuring that every aspect aligned with the client’s objectives. Key strategies included:  

  • Connection: We curated a mix of interactive sessions and activities to foster connections across the business. Attendees participated in a variety of team-building events, such as interactive Lego builds, scavenger hunts, and offsite tours of Manchester’s famous football clubs. An onsite event app facilitated real-time communication, interaction during the show and photo sharing 
  • Engaging Content: With a focus on impactful content, our two hosts kept energy levels high, ensuring seamless transitions between sessions. Bespoke videos and interactive Q&A sessions were used to bring key messages to life, keeping attendees engaged throughout the conference.  
  • Sustainability: We prioritised sustainable practices across the event. Attendees received eco-friendly gifts, including branded sweatshirts, metal name badges, seed bombs, and eco-power banks. The event’s carbon footprint was carefully measured, and initiatives were implemented to minimise waste and promote recycling.

No matter what, this must feel like a single experience, not 3 separate events. So, we focused our attention on making sure that wherever they were in the world, every attendee would enjoy being part of one company-wide unveiling. That would mean creating a cohesive look and feel at all locations, an agenda incorporating the same themes and several simulcast moments throughout the event, alongside lots of carefully planned touches to help everyone experience the event fully, from each location.

The team’s hard work and meticulous attention to detail were evident throughout, no ask was ever too big.  Your perseverance (and countless hours) ensured that the content was superb, the keynote speaker was engaging, the activities went well, and the evening was a big hit. As always, when Lemon Lane is running the event, everything runs smoothly, exceeding all our expectations. The collective hard work and dedication made it one of my favourite events, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your remarkable planning and organisational skills.  Thank you once again for your outstanding work. We are so grateful for the team’s commitment and look forward to working with you all again in the future.

The Result.

The conference was a resounding success, exceeding client expectations:  

  • Engagement: 85% of attendees rated the event 8 or higher for overall enjoyment, and 99% rated the offsite activities as good or excellent. 
  • Content: 91% of attendees rated the content across the two days as good or excellent.  
  • Sustainability: The event achieved a total carbon measurement of 16.06 tCO2e, with 67% of waste recycled and only 12% going to landfill.  
  • Community Impact: A £5,000 charity donation was made to Manchester Dogs Home, as a result of the scavenger hunt.
